OT 3 Run Cork's PledgePage
Louise, Donal and Ollie have decided to give the Cork Marathon a run for it's money!
As part of our continued journey to healthier and happier lifestyles these 3 participants from Operation Transformation will be (attempting) to complete the Cork Marathon on June 2nd in order to raise funds for the following worthwhile organisations: DEBRA IRELAND (the Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa Research Association) Epidermolysis Bullosa -EB- is a distressing and painful genetic skin disorder causing skin layers and body linings to separate and blister at the slightest touch. Children born with EB have skin that is as fragile as the wings of a butterfly - and as easily damaged. DEBRA Ireland (the Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa Research Association) was set up by families of children with EB in 1988. We are funded by donations, fundraising and grant support. DEBRA Ireland has worked for, and supported the development of the EB Liaison Nurse Service, now established at Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children and St James's Hospital. Ongoing support to the nursing and medical care of patients is a high priority. Medical research is the key to finding an effective treatment for EB. DEBRA Ireland funds medical research programmes in Trinity College, Dublin, and co-funds the DEBRA Ireland - DEBRA UK Cancer In EB Campaign. LISDOONAN NATIONAL SCHOOL: "From small acorns mighty oaks grow". This small village school, which is set high in the Drumlins of south Monaghan, opened on 17th October 1900, replacing the first Lisdoonan school which was opened by the Board of Education in June 1832. Over 100 pupils were enrolled when the school first opened and today there are 113 pupils on roll. We have four class teachers and a learning support teacher. The children are taught in two permanent classrooms and two aged prefab classrooms. Last year, after persistent requests, the Department of Education sanctioned a grant to build an extension consisting of two addtional classrooms, a general purpose room, an office and a staff room. However, the grant allocated falls short of the cost of the lowest tender by ˆ100,000. Every contribution (no matter how small) will be of immense value in building an up-to-date comfortable learning environment for present and future pupils. If you would like to support us and these very worthwhile causes, please click on the donate button in the right hand menu above!! Thank you very much! P.S Don't forget to sign our guestbook!! |
